Art and Design
Through our art and design curriculum we aim to inspire children to develop their confidence, to experiment and invent their own works of art, to nurture their talent and interests and to express their ideas and thoughts about the world, as well as learning about the rich heritage and culture of the British Isles and beyond.
Our children learn about a diverse range of art that has been created and the artists that created them. They become confident and proficient in a variety of techniques including drawing, painting and sculpting. We have a strong drawing curriculum which is developed from nursery to enable all children to be proud of their skills and representations.
Lessons are based on the Kapow scheme of work in Key Stage One which follows five areas of learning: making skills; generating ideas; formal elements; knowledge of artists; evaluating.  Lessons are taught in a sequential and progressive order and develop discrete skills and techniques of art, craft and design.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage children safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques. They have the opportunity to represent their ideas thoughts and feelings through art and design.
