History
The history curriculum aims to give children the foundations of knowledge of modern Britain’s past, its diverse community and the wider world, through an enquiry based, investigative approach. It encourages children to be curious about events in the past and how they have contributed to shaping the world in which they live.
Children develop a sense of their personal history, the history of the local area and a wider concept of a diverse range of historical events, people and changes over time.
They are encouraged to ask and answer questions and to use stories and historical sources to demonstrate their understanding of events from the past. They develop an appropriate vocabulary of historical terms to enable them to do this.
